toronto is a top heavy team. tons of money spent up front which means D and Goalie position will suffer. they need to find a goalie long term.

As for draft, Yzerman has to hit it in the second round. Not like last time where Kenny drafte Ouellete, Sproul and Jurco. He needs to find a player or two there..

I would give Kenny a break on the 2009-2014/17. Except for the superstars, no one really made out great in any of those drafts.

That said I really do like the talent projected to be available in the 2nd round of this draft and I feel there’s many guys that would be potential 1st rounders in most years. Lots of talented wingers and D, finding C will be a diamond in the rough situation

Hockey should be like English soccer no salary cap free market each team manages its own budget . At the very least soft cap with luxury tax like baseball. Equalization has made most games boring with each team looking alike . This years Detroit team was an abnormality being thatbeing said change Howard and deadbeat blashill and you have a 15-20 point improvement

Hearing Steve say a good draft will yield 1 to 3 players was eye opening. Some drafts are a bust. Guys get hurt, teams fall apart (flint), stuff just goes to hell for no reason. I trust his vision, but so much is outside of your control with how these guys develop when they’re not in your system

Yikes, English soccer. The number of refs who work for FIFA and other leagues that have pled guilty to accepting bribes is terrifying. The system isn’t perfect, but it forces “cheap” owners to have at least a minimum cap. Another reason to get rid of dead contracts.

I’d be open to a tax on overages, but with stipulations. I.E., if you spend half your cap on 4 players then the cap isn’t your issue. GMs are their own worst enemies and the cap came in to correct some serious problems. Detroit, yeah, they should be somewhat better next year. But, the defense is getting younger and less experienced. The goal tender needs some help

Blash is Ok, and will have to do for 1 more year.......however he is not signed yet and I wonder if Stevie is seeing if Cooper will be available.
Howard only had 1 very bad year, and has been plagued with injury the last 3.....yeah, I hope he will be replaced. But really, all the other years he has been above average, and very good at times.
I was wondering if they have compliance buyouts as to what pieces Stevie might be able to pick up. Snieder might be bought out, sign him to a 1-2 yr cheap deal.
